Hello and welcome to my latest post, and if you’re a returning reader thank you so much for coming back and supporting me with your time, it’s very much appreciated!
The silver lining about Lockdown and current proceedings everywhere is that we have all had time to stop and take stock of our lives and appreciate everything from the large to the small. For myself I’ve absolutely had more time to catch up on my hobbies, in between the seriousness of Living of course, so I’ve slowly been catching up on my reading, (which I’m very far behind on it’s unreal, as well as my tv shows, games and movies.
What strikes me sometimes, and right now, is that really it’s impossible to catch up. Sure you can catch up on all the movies you’ve bought or have queued up on your apps. But there’s still an ocean of movies out there really. So when you consider that you realise you can take your time all those thousands of movies you really want to watch…eventually!! I mean, they’re not going anywhere! Hopefully!
So anyway I wanted to share some of the things I’ve been enjoying recently…and this might be a regular post going forward hopefully!
Right this moment as I type these very wors I’m watching Star Trek: Enterprise, (Series, Episode 10). I really enjoy Trek as a whole, starting with earlier movies and The Next Generation crew on tv! I’ve never been a hardcore Trekkie but over the last few years I’ve watched The Original Series and The Next Generation, on the Horror Channel. Since discovering all the Trek shows and movies are on Netflix, (aside from Star Trek: Picard which is on Amazon Prime), I’ve been slowly re-watching Enterprise because I never finished it years ago!
The episode I just watched was actually a pretty emotional episode. I’ll avoid spoilers in the event that you’ve not watched the show or maybe have forgotten this episode! Trip (played by Conner Trineer) has a near fatal accident and Doctor Phlox (John Billingsly) suggests growing a clone (of course), of Trip to harvest the life saving organ Trip needs. The Enterprise is at risk through extenuating circumstances. Captain Archer is under the dilemma of life and death, because Trip’s clone is grown with the help of outlawed alien medical practices, he has a lifespan no longer than 15 days, and will age rapidly. The dilemma which Archer, (played by Quantum Leap’s Scott Bakula), is a fraught one of life and death and one where Archer has to weigh the lives of many against the lives of the few. What’s funny is, Scott Bakula, who plays the time travelling Sam Beckett of Quantum Leap, still encounters time travel on this show as part of the macro plot of the threat of the sinister Xindi! Also
What I’ve really been enjoying about watching ‘Enterprise’ again, its dated really well in 15 years as a whole. Considering how most movies and shows from the late 90s to the early 2000s haven’t aged all that well. Its very well written and solidly produced, also I’m really enjoying the cast’s acting and performances. They really embody their characters and the first crew of the Enterprise, for me, stand shoulder to shoulder with Kirk and Picard’s crew. I’m only sorry they were never given their chance on the Silver Screen.
It is a huge shame that Enterprise was only supported as part of the Star Trek franchise during the course of the show’s tenure. The characters ad very strong and the series was well planned of course the crew had a future that went on for years beyond the final episode and of course the tie in novels. I have not read the huge back library of Star Trek novels but to my knowledge there were not many dedicated to Archer’s crew.
As for other series, I can highly recommend both Picard and Discovery as good new shows, I find them enjoyable and entertaining and I’m looking forward to more of both!
Thank you for taking a moment to read the latest post from my new blog! I hope you enjoyed it and will read more posts I plan to write in the future. Please ‘Like’ my post and share it, and come back to read more! I really appreciate your support!
